calmER Companion Privacy Policy

The short version: calmER Companion does not collect or transmit any of your information. Everything you enter stays on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no third-party trackers.

What we collect

Nothing.

calmER Companion has no servers. We do not run an account system. We do not register users. We do not collect or transmit anything you enter into the app — not to us, not to a cloud service, not to a third party.

What stays on your device

When you use calmER Companion, you may enter information about your child to help prepare for an Emergency Room visit. That information is yours, and it is stored only on your device, in a private database that no one else can read over the internet.

What may be saved on your device includes:

Your child’s profile: name, date of birth, allergies, medical history, sensory triggers, your “Priority Info” critical-info notes, and comfort preferences
First-Then board pairs you create
The date you acknowledged the in-app Disclaimer
The screen you last visited
Which child profile is currently selected

This is local app data, the same way notes or settings work in any offline app. It never leaves your device unless you choose to back up or transfer your phone using your operating system’s tools.

What the app uses on your device

Text-to-speech (TTS): When you tap a Care Card or other speakable phrase, your device speaks it aloud using your operating system’s built-in voice (Apple’s AVSpeechSynthesizer on iOS, Android’s TextToSpeech on Android). The speech happens on your device. No audio is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
Audio playback session: calmER Companion asks your device to play TTS audio even when your phone’s silent switch is on, so you can hear it during a stressful ER moment. The app does not use the microphone.

What we don’t do

No user accounts or sign-in
No servers or cloud storage
No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting SDKs
No advertising and no ad tracking
No iCloud sync, Google Drive sync, or third-party backup integrations
No third-party SDKs that collect data

Children’s privacy

calmER Companion is designed for caregivers preparing a child for an ER visit. A child may use the app under your supervision, but the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Any information in the app is entered by you, the caregiver, and stays on your device. Because nothing is transmitted off the device, there is no data sharing that would require verifiable parental consent under the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Your rights and your control

Because nothing leaves your device, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on a server.

You are always in full control of your data:

Delete a profile: Remove a child profile from inside the app to clear that profile’s data.
Clear all on-device data in one tap: Open Settings → Clear All Data inside the app. After you confirm, this permanently removes all profiles, First-Then pairs, your Disclaimer acknowledgement, and all other on-device data, and returns the app to its first-launch state.
Delete everything (including the app): Uninstall calmER Companion, or clear the app’s storage from your device’s Settings, to remove all calmER Companion data from your device.

This same principle covers your rights under GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and similar laws: there is no collected data to access, port, correct, or opt out of. We do not sell or share personal information.

Permissions the app requests

calmER Companion does not request:

Camera, microphone, photos, or contacts
Location, health data, or Bluetooth
Push notifications

The only system capability calmER Companion uses is an audio session category so TTS can play through your speaker. This does not access the microphone.

Third-party services

calmER Companion does not include any third-party services that collect data. The text-to-speech and audio routing are provided by your device’s operating system (Apple iOS or Google Android) and are governed by Apple’s and Google’s own privacy policies, not ours.

calmER Companion is a wellness companion, not a medical device. calmER Companion does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the Effective date above and ship the new text in the next app update. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated policy.
